Police investigates attack against newspaper press in São Paulo
The police of São Paulo is still investigating the attack against the press of the “Correio Mariliense”, a newspaper from Marília, in São Paulo state. For the moment, officers concentrate on the hypothesis that it was a normal robbery, but some details indicate that men who invaded the press were aiming to stop the machines.
The attack occurred on Monday, November 1st. An employee found the doors open and some spots on fire. The flames were close to rolls of paper and buckets of flammable liquids. Burglars had taken, among other few things, the computer that controlled the printing process and other tools essential for the press. Valuable objects were left untouched.
The National Association of Newspapers (ANJ) released a note urging the police to investigate and find the authors of the attack. The newspaper “Correio Braziliense” is being printed on a private press.
