Journalist is threatened by Brasilia´s governor brother

Journalist Claudio Dantas, working for Revista IstoÉ, was threatened last week by Ailton Queiroz, brother of the governor of Brasilia, Agnelo Queiroz, during an interview bu phone. According to Dantas, Ailton was aware of the reporters habits and referred to details of the motorcycle he uses to go to work every day and threatened: “The only thing is that sometimes it catches fire and explodes”.

The journalist was after Ailton because of a story he was writing on the sudden enrichment of Queiroz family. Ailton, who got famous in 2008 as the author of the report about the wiretaps on the Supreme Court of Brazil (STF), reacted with anger to the phone call. “I won’t allow anyone snooping my life”, he is said to have told the journalist. “You think you’re dealing with some moron? You take care of yourself”.

The journalist has communicated the threats to the Police and delivered the agents a copy of the conversation.
