Brazilian TV host is murdered in restaurant

Luciano Pedrosa was shot inside of the restaurant Porto Luna, in the northeastern city Vitória de Santo Antão, on April 9th , Saturday night. The shooter escaped with the help of an accomplice, who was waiting in a motorcycle outside the restaurant.

The journalist presented the TV show Ação e Cidadania (Action and Citizenship) of the channel TV Vitória and also worked on the radio station Metropolitana.  He used to make a critical coverage of crimes and local authorities.

Carlos Leite, press agent of the civil police, said that the police is treating the crime as an execution, since there weren’t any signs of robbery. Police also announced that a motorcycle driver was arrested on the afternoon of April 12th. The chief of local police, Maria Bethânia Tavares, refuses to give any further information on the case. She will make an announcement Wednesday,April 13th, at 10am (local time).
