Brazilian journalist is shot to death in Rio Grande do Norte

The brazilian journalist Francisco Gomes, known as F. Gomes, was shot to death on Monday, 18, while sitting in front of his house in the city of Caicó, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Northeast of Brazil. Police arrested a man on Tuesday, who confessed the crime. João Francisco dos Santos said he was afraid the reporter would write about his activities as a drug dealer.

The journalist worked for a newspaper (Tribuna do Norte), a radio station (Rádio Caicó) and had a blog (www.fgomes.com.br), where he used to write about crimes and politics on his region. The police says the investigation will continue untill there is no doubt that the man arrested on Tuesday did not receive orders to kill the journalist from anybody.
